Privacy notice

This website is deliberately sparse: no contact form, no tracking cookies, no embedded third-party content. Whatever data does arise is described here in full.

Controller

I am based in Switzerland, so the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP) applies to this processing. Because this site also addresses people in the European Union, I additionally apply the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Where the two differ, I follow the stricter requirement.

What arises when you open a page

The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. When you request a page, your browser transmits technically necessary data to the provider's servers — in particular your IP address, the date and time of access, the address requested, browser type and operating system. This is required to deliver the page at all and to protect it against attack.

The legal basis is the legitimate interest in secure and stable operation of the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; Art. 31 revFADP). I keep no server logs of my own and link this data with nothing.

Cloudflare acts as a processor and processes data outside Switzerland and the EU as well, including in the United States. This rests on a data processing agreement and the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Visitor statistics

I use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see which pages are being read. The service works without cookies, without fingerprinting and without cross-device recognition. No profiles are built and no data is sold on. Individuals cannot be identified from it.

The legal basis is the legitimate interest in understanding which pieces get read (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Storage in your browser

This website sets no cookies. It stores two values in your browser's local storage:

Both values stay on your device, are never transmitted, and contain no personal data. You can delete them at any time through your browser settings.

Getting in touch by email

There is no contact form on this website. If you write to me, I receive your email address, your name and the content of your message. I use those details solely to answer your enquiry and for related follow-up.

The legal basis is the initiation or performance of a contractual relationship, or the legitimate interest in answering your enquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). My mailbox is hosted with Microsoft (Outlook), which acts as a processor in this respect. Business correspondence is retained for as long as the matter and statutory retention duties require, at most ten years. Enquiries with no business follow-up are deleted after twelve months at the latest.

No third-party content

Fonts, images and scripts are loaded from this website only. There are no Google web fonts, no videos, no maps, no social media components and no advertising or analytics services other than the one named above. The link to my LinkedIn profile is an ordinary link — it transmits data only once you click it.

Your rights

You have the right to obtain information about the data processed about you, and to rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to processing based on a legitimate interest. A short email to the address above is enough.

You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority: in Switzerland with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), in the European Union with the data protection authority of your country of residence.

No automated decision-making or profiling takes place.

Changes

This notice describes the position as at 10 September 2026. If anything changes on the website that affects data, this text changes with it.
